Britain’s health is very complicated as we are living into older age and yet there is an increase in diseases ad younger people are suffering from ‘older’ illnesses. Unlike the pandemics which killed most people 50 to 100 years ago, now heart disease and obesity are early killers. Our diet is now contributing t younger people suffering from diseases like heart attacks and kidney disease. Although there may have been high levels of these type of illnesses in the past, the knowledge that we now have in modern medicine means that there is more exposure of them.

Weights
When you begin to use your gym you should choose some free weights of different heaviness because these are not going to cost you a great deal. Building up muscle and gentle cardio can boost your fitness quickly. If you want to do cardio training as well as muscle work but cannot afford a machine, then put a TV in your new gym so you can do an exercise DVD.

Machines
If you do have a bit of a bigger budget then you might want to get a cardio machine. You could get a stationary bike, a treadmill or cross trainer depending on which you prefer. There are expensive machines on the market but you can find the, for as little as you would pay for 1 year’s gym membership.
